Something to Give

Hope this takes some pressure off!

When we read 1 Corinthians 12 we see God's plan for the church. One body, one Spirit, "each person given something to do that shows who God is" (verse 7, The Message).

We each have a part to play, which means we can't sit back waiting for others to 'do church'. We are the church - each of us Holy Spirit empowered to speak words of life, to pray for the sick, pray prophetically, etc.

The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others. Let's not devalue our role. Verse 18 says "God has carefully placed each part of the body right where He wanted it", and verse 27 states "You are Christ's body ... never forget this. Only as you accept your part of that body does your 'part' mean anything".

It's our responsibility then to see ourselves as God sees us - chosen, empowered, equipped. People ready to serve, knowing they have something to give.
